Hello all. My old 2009 MBP has the back corner screen top lifting up when I close the machine. The screen works fine, and I can push the screen back down in the corner. I assume the glue needs to be re-applied? I took the machine to a local repair shop, and they wanted to replace the entire top half of the machine, including the LCD screen, which I really can’t afford, and I’m not sure it needs to be replaced. Otherwise the machine is still going strong after almost 10 years. If anyone has dealt with a similar issue, please let me know.

Take a look at this video and see if it helps, you may just need to tighten hinges and that may be enough but it looks like the metal blocks for hinge reinforcement have separated from the top chassis and may need to be reglued with epoxy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi6vlshg

Chances are its from apples terrible design of having ALL the hot air from the cpu and gpu blowing on the hinge glue. Not your fault. Put some new epoxy and it should be fine
