Installed new screen/digitizer and the top and bottom 1 to 1.5 inches of the screen is non-responsive. Only very small sections of the original screen were responsive since it was very damaged. Was wondering the likely hood that the reason that it is not working correctly is a defective digitizer or is the controller bad. Any way to test these components to determine next course of action. Thanks,

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to use known-good parts. New, replacement parts are as close to this ideal as you will get as a DIY fixer. So yes, it could be a bad digitizer, damaged connectors or Touch controller issues on the logic board. Start by carefully inspecting the connectors on the logic board and the surrounding area for any damage, or missing components. Also inspect the condition of the flex cable from the digitizer. If nothing is visually amiss, I would recommend you contact the vendor who sold you the digitizer and see what you’re options are. A quick visit to a local repair shop could also help; have them test a digitizer to see if you can isolate the issue.
