My iphone 6s mute/silent switch doesnt respond correctly when I toggle it. Switch seems to be working fine mechanically (been cleaned as much as possible from the outside). Further, the mute/silent function changes on its own. Sometimes ever couple seconds (even though switch not moving). Seems the audio/power cable (and bracket) need to be replaced. Does the button also need to be replaced? Anyway I can open it up and the solution will be simpler?
It definitely sounds like the button on the flex is damaged. You can change this yourself. This is not the simplest DIY repair so if you’re all thumbs, I wouldn’t recommend it as a lot can go wrong here. If you’re a good fixer in general and have a delicate touch, you should certainly try it. The repair guide is here.
