I did a hard drive replacement on this iMac about a month ago. Have not used it for about a month. Today when I try to boot it up it beeps like it has no or bad RAM. I tried new RAM sticks to no avail, still beeping like it has bad RAM. While removing the screen to replace the HDD, the vertical sync cable came out damaged. I did my best to put it back in. Would a damaged vertical sync cable be causing this?
I actually just solved my problem. I looted a display from an identical iMac that had suffered a fall and broke it’s foot (ouch!) and plugged it into the problematic iMac and it booted just fine. It was indeed the cable after all. @my64pro @mayer thanks for stopping by!
It could be possible that this is why it does not work, the computer maybe detects that the LCD is not connected due to the cable being damaged. I recommend replacing it and see if that fixes the problem.
