My Frigidaire dishwasher is left with 1-2" of water left after cycle ends. Dishwasher is 10 years old but was never used until 4 months ago. It was working great until last night. It does dry the dishes completely but water won’t drain.
Hi @cadillachawk , Try running the drain hose along the floor and into a bucket (or two) and see if it drains normally at the end of the cycle. If it does then the problem may be a weak drain pump or a faulty impeller in the drain pump. Check if there is a tech sheet behind the dishwasher’s kick panel (toe panel?) which describes how to run diagnostic tests to speed up the operation of the dishwasher cycle to do the above test. What is the model number of your dishwasher?
Reasons why a dishwasher has water at bottom after wash cycle:
- Sump pump filter/drain basket clogged with food or objects
- Clogged drain hose Check that your drain hose is HIGH LOOP
- Check AIR GAP (ANTI SIPHON) if applicable.
- Drain hose is siphoning
- Food chopping blade jammed
- Foreign object lodged in pump
- Garbage disposal clogged
- Float is stuck
- Dishwasher not level A dishwasher filter/trap/drainage basket that is clogged with chunks of food is the leading reason water remains at the bottom of a dishwasher.
How about when they installed the new dishwasher they left a big chunk of styrofoam packing in the bottom of the unit? I found that out today when using a big towel to soak up the water.
