Hey this is my first time posting here I have a 500 mbps Internet connection (wired) and in the Windows laptop I have at home the internet connection is much faster than my Mac! My Mac shows around 80 to 90 mbps and in my Windows laptop shows around 470 to 480 mbps. Is this problem in my Mac or all MacBooks have the samething? My internet company is VTR and I’m from Chile Here is a screenshot of the results
So why is the Windows system faster? As I don’t your exact Windows system I can only make an educated guess here. Your Windows systems connection over WiFi is 470 to 480 mbpsYour MacBook Air systems connection over WiFi is 80 to 90 mbps This gets into the version of WiFi the given system supports your MacBook Air only supports 802.11n whereas your Windows system likely supports a newer standard like 802.11ac. In addition within the ac spec MIMO was added which allows two signal pathways to be used in parallel multiplying the amount of data to be sent over WiFi using two antenna’s Vs one. If you have an available Ethernet port on your cable modem you could connect your MacBook Air to either an optional Apple USB Ethernet Adapter. That would allow you to max out the connection speed to 100 Mbps!
