Got a broken iphone 5 from my friend a while back, it’s pretty horribly cracked. Still 100% functional, i can touch it all and it works, but lately pieces have been falling off of it and I’d really rather that stop. I fix computers, but not really touch screens, let alone phones. So my question is, since the touch screen part still works, do I need to replace the whole digitizer for 200 bucks or can I just replace the LED screen for 20? I’m really new when it comes to the problems that would cause and I really don’t want to replace the screen and then not have a touch screen anymore and just an LED. Any help would be awesome. Jared, The front glass, digitizer, and LCD are all one component, (adhered to each other) check here. So you need the whole front display assembly. There will be answers that can it be separated, and I am sure that it might be, with some expensive tools and lots of time and even more luck. Then there is the issue of how to adhere the pieces back together. Anyhow, replace the front display assembly will be a sure way to get your iPhone back to its proper shape and function. Hope this helps, good luck.

Do NOT try seperate the LCD and glass, screen protector is your only option. Other than that bite the bullet and pay for a new screen, it really is worth it

You may want to check out this site for something like that : http://www.icracked.com/

I don’t know where you’re from, but wefixmac.com (UK based) can replace just your glass for 79 gbp I think. They have this UV thing that makes the glue come loose between glass & digitizer. You need to send them your broken screen and they will place new glass
