I recently replaced the camera module on my friends iphone, which was damaged when the phone was dropped. As part of the repair, I replaced his rear camera glass. As you know, the rear facing microphone is under there, and this little tuft of something … blew away (yea I was working on my balcony with a cold beer, oh well)
So here is the question - is that little tuft a dust screen? what is it’s function? and now that that oem tuft of something is now blowing across the field somewhere do I a) have to replace it before I seat the camera glass or b) it makes no difference … oh wait c) is there something like cotton from a Q-tip I can use in it’s place - I seriously think it’s just a dust screen, but better to ask now - and yea I googled the snot out of this, no luck.
Figures ;)
Dust/liquid ingress protection mesh? Don’t worry about it, repaired phones are unlikely to retain IP rating anyway.
