As mentioned, almost each time I wake up my laptop by opening the lid, it crashes. Sometimes short after, sometimes after a good 20 minutes. Also, after closing the lid (so that my laptop can sleep), the sleep indicator light goes off completely after pulsating only for a short while, unlike before when it glowed continuously until I opened the lid again. (This happens with and without AC adapter connected). What I tried: -reset SMC and NVRAM -ran AHT twice and another third party tester -reinstalled clean El Capitan and Sierra 3 or 4 times -opened enclosure and checked if cables were properly connected any ideas? I’m currently running El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G1510) with everything up to date.
I am assuming that when the laptop is off and the lid is open, you can turn it on and it will boot and operate normally and not shut off on its own? I would say check the “LID” lines, using of course a multimeter. Not sure what this model uses for hall-effect / lid detection, but a simple “lid” search using the schematics should point you to the right component. If you can find the board number (820-xxxx), the schematics and board view, we can help with this.
