A buddy of mine asked me to fix his home button. I bought a new home button knowing that touch id wouldn’t work, after i replaced the home button it still didn’t work. Is there any connection that might be causing this? I went through the connections a few times and found nothing that would be causing the failure. It would be great if someone could help me with this, Thank you

If you purchased one of those few $ worth buttons you probably bought a purely cosmetic one, used only to literally fill the hole in the screen, that’s all. Unlike in previous iPhones the home button doesn’t have a click function, it’s a pressure sensor paired to the CPU, so either it’s original or it doesn’t work at all. There are in the market some workarounds from a couple chinese suppliers, one is a bluetooth paired button from JC, others are flat cable powered workarounds from JC or HX, that are known to be more reliable. That’s what you have to look for if you want to get back at least the return to home function.

Hi @mrmime The iPhone 7 home button cannot be replaced because the “Menu” function is controlled by software through the Touch ID system. To fix this issue, I recommend installing an original screen on the iPhone and taking it to Apple for a screen replacement.
