Some context, this laptop has a two audio jacks, one for sound and one for a microphone. In the past, when i plugged my headset in the sound jack i would be able to hear properly and the microphone would also be working through the sound jack. Now, whenever i plug it in the sound goes through the speakers and my headset at the same time and only goes over to only the headset after i twist it a bit. In addition, the sound jack randomly stopped picking up my microphone and now my laptop microphone doesnt work either. Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this?

Go to “Sound” on your laptop. You can do this by right clicking on the little sound icon on the bottom right of your laptop. Once you right clicked on it, go to recordings. In “Sound” go to the tab “recordings” on the top, look at all the devices. I don’t know what yours may be called. https://www.google.com/search?safe=stric…: That is a picture of what it may look like. Once you find the microphone you are trying to use. Right click on it and make sure it’s set as default, and enabled. Disable the other ones you are not using (I recommend) and go back to it if you need the others enabled. The fact you have to twist the cord to get audio through the jack, tells me the headset you are trying to use is not very functional. Please try what I suggested and see if the laptop microphone works again then we can get to the other things. PS. Specify what kind of headset you have…. “earbuds”…. “cheap headset”….etc etc Multiple headsets have the same problem? ,Or just that one?
