I dropped my hammer on my engine and now the cover is cracked exposing the engine parts. Is this bad for the engine?
The plastic cover on the top of the engine is mostly for appearances, so if it is cracked it should not be a problem. However, the middle section of the cover is designed to act as a small filter so that big items do not get in the engine, so if this portion of the cover is completely broken, you may want to think about replacing it.
