@goldstein58 , Larry, Remove batteries, clean cameras battery terminals in compartment of camera and make sure terminals are clean and shiny as well as battery contacts. A pen eraser works well or long Qtip dampened with 90% or better Isopropyl Alcohol, blow out all dust/debri with canned compressed air. Replace battery with a good quality battery or if rechargeable make sure taking full charge(check with DVOM) to see if battery/charger may be defective. Try camera. If still not turning on probable internal fault and may have to be looked at by a good local camera shop and estimate repair. Find link to your manual below, may be of some help. Good luck.
