As it goes off and on it shows distortion and loud noise. eventually the picture and sound tunes in and everything is fine. Why is this?
@steadykickin that sounds like bad caps or even Mosfets and most likely on the power board. Let us know what make and model your TV is and post some good images of all the boards with your question. Use this guide for that Also, do not forget to check the LCD driver boards, most likely on the top and side of the TV connected by some ribbon cables to the LCD. At minimum you will have to have a multimeter available for any further checking.
