Chosen Solution
So I stick a disc into the system and the game starts up but then a few seconds to minutes into the game the system says “disc is dirty or damaged.” Cleaned the disc, same thing. Tried a different disc, same error. Took system apart and carefully cleaned the lens, still giving the same error. Any ideas?
Assuming that your disc is clean it’s quite likely that the laser is just bad. It’s a common problem especially as these consoles age. It’s always possible that there’s another problem with the disc drive but not likely.
