I have the late 2008 early 2009 MBP Unibody 15" with the removable battery. I recently swapped out the LCD assembly with the mid 2009 LCD assembly. I later discovered that the mid 2009 LCD has the sleep sensor magnet on the left side of the screen rather than on the right side. I want to avoid peeling the glass display off and moving the magnet to the other side. My question is, is there a way where I can re-route the sleep sensor, located on the right side, to the left side where the USB/Mini Display connections are at?
You seem to be pretty good at fixing things. Go for it. Just open it up and splice enough wire in to run it to the other side. Use light weight electrical tape on the splices and do not cross the motherboard with the wire. Tape he sensor in place.
I also have the same problem. I just put in a new display assembly, only to discover that my MacBook Pro unibody does not react, when I open/close the lid. Maybe I can use a part from the old assembly. Where are the magnets located? Would it work?
Anyone as a detailed procedure? with picture of this procedure? I have the exacte opposite early 2009 with 2008 display magnet is reverse. MBP 15
