hey wassup guys, i bought a 2tb ssd bundle kit from ifixit. im wondering if its possible to just remove everything from inside the computer. take the ssd blade off the back of the logic board. run the sata data/power cable to my 2tb ssd which i cloned my operating system to, and mount it in the hard drive bracket once its all put back together. sorry if this question has been asked before. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you for your time!
That Apple blade on the back of your logic board is the fastest data mover you will ever get on this machine. If it is a 500 GB that’s fantastic. Now, please clarify your exact storage configuration. You have the blade. Is there also a hard drive? This is how your machine shipped: Standard Storage:2 TB (Fusion)Std. Storage Speed:N/A Details:This model has a 2 TB “Fusion” Drive, which combines a 128 GB SSD and a 2 TB hard drive. It has a Serial ATA (6 Gb/s) connector for a 2.5" hard drive and a PCIe connector for the SSD. At the time of purchase, Apple also offered a 3 TB “Fusion” Drive (128 GB SSD and 3 TB hard drive) for an extra US$100 or a 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB SSD for an extra US$200, US$600, and US$1400, respectively. Standard RAM:8 GBMaximum RAM:64 GB* Details:*By default, 8 GB of RAM is installed as two 4 GB memory modules (and two slots are unoccupied). Apple offered this model custom configured with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB for an extra US$200, US$600, or US$1400, respectively. However, upgrading the RAM yourself is quick and easy. Bed time, I will look at this in the morning.
