My Superdrive has begun making a low pitched gravely noise and sometimes works, sometimes not. Does anyone know if you can lubricate the spindle? The iMac recognizes the drive, and recognizes the disc, but cannot finish a burn.
I’ve never seen anyone repair one of these drives with the exception of cleaning the lens. You can replace the drive or go with an external drive that will move to your next machine.
