My 2019 MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt has stopped charging all of a sudden. I was using one port with my charger, one port with my monitor. The laptop lid was open. There has been no drops or water damage. The monitor still worked, but I quickly realized my MBP was not charging. At first, I thought it could be the thunderbolt ports themselves, but then I realized that the external monitor was working. What else could the situation be? I already placed an order for new ports, but now I am wondering if I am on the wrong track. Thanks in advance
I feel completely silly. I have repaired so many different things over the years, as well as troubleshooting settings. I’ve never imagined that my MBP to suddenly stop charging would be caused by a battery optimization setting. For anyone in this situation, please first check in System Preferences under Battery. And make sure that “Optimize battery charging” is not selected before buying parts. Haha. Plus side, problem solved!
