Hi folks, I was recently greeted by the dead battery icon (black “X” inside the battery icon in the menu bar, and it says “No battery available“ when I click it). This came out of the blue, without any warning (I’ve had the “Please service the battery“ on previous Macs I owned).
I’ve tried to reset the SMC twice (for my 2015 MBA: turn it off, hold shift + ctrl + option + power for 10 seconds, release, see the charger led blink and turn back on) with no effect. Even if the UI says so, the battery isn’t actually fully dead: when I unplug the charger, the computer hibernates. Any advice? Is there any way to probe the integrity of the SMC? Kind regards, —Pierre-Yves Edit: Here’s the CoconutBattery screenshot with the power cord plugged in:
I can’t take one on battery, the computer immediately goes to sleep.
Lets get a better view of things. Install this gem of an app CoconutBattery and then paste a snapshot of the main window of the app here for us to see Adding images to an existing question If you can, do one with the MagSafe adapter plugged in and the second with it disconnected.
