Ok, I think I made a big mistake here. I purchased ram for my MBP mid 2012 but the top slot didnt go in properly. I have tried to take it out but the back of the ram is pressed against the metal behind the ram slot. Don’t do ram upgrades when tired. I don’t even think its in the slot, it’s just above it. Any ideas on how to get it out? I’m new to Macs, no surprise there.

Alrighty, from what you have told me I envision that the RAM has broken the slot on the Logic Board where it sits. I also envision it being jammed between the battery and the little ridge by the battery, so we will probably need to take out the Logic Board in order to safely extract the RAM. I will provide an iFixit guide below on how to take out the Logic Board so we can unjam the RAM (rhymes). Also, as @danj said please upload some images of what it looks like before removing the Logic Board se we can have a good idea of what we are dealing with. Logic Board Removal Update (09/18/2018) Go ahead and remove that Logic Board to the point where you can safely remove the RAM. Follow the special instructions @danj provided below too, kudos to Dan for providing those :)

@richieblack - It looks like you wedged the module onto the upper side of the fixture and the back dropped against the case locking it into this condition. The best way to fix this is to lift the full logicboard up so the module clears the case edge. Follow the logicboard replacement guide to Step7. You don’t need to pull the fans or disconnect them but you do need to take the screws out follow the guide to Step12. Jump to Step16 disconnecting the drive/IR cable as well as the speaker wire follow on thru the steps to Step21. Move down to Step24 removing the logicboard screws, at this point you can safely lift the logicboard up no more than a 1/2” to slide the module out. You may need to slide a stack of business cards under the logic board so you can press the catches if needed. Reverse the process and this time make sure you enter into the connector slot.
