Hi, I have recently replaced the battery in my Macbook Pro . After the battery change I did a boot and the laptop was working fine. So I decided to change the thermal paste too due to the high idle temperatures. After reapplying the thermal paste I can’t boot into the OS anymore. When booting I am only presented with an Apple Logo and the progress bar. With a normal boot the progress bar will move to the middle of the apple logo. In safe mode boot the progress will move up till 3/4 of the bar.

I have tried SMC, NVRAM, PRAM resets, and internet recovery. And nothing seems to be working : Ran hardware check and there seem to be no errors Running in Verbose mode it gets stuck on this line

I am currently downloading OS X Mountain Lion and will try boot from a USB. The mac was running on macOS Mojave before.
Any idea what is going on? Is there a chance of a messed up sensor on the motherboard :( ?
Any suggestion is appreciated :)

Start up in Repair Mode and run Disk Utilities; To use Recovery Mode, reboot or start your Mac and hold the Command and R keys simultaneously on your keyboard as soon as you hear the familiar startupchime. Keep holding as your Mac boots, which may take a few moments depending on its specific configuration.
