I replaced the screen with an iFixIt part. Those gray boxes in the center are new, and the digitizer doesn’t work at all. Put the old screen back and it works as well as it ever did. Bad part?
Contact ifixit support, that is a defective or installed incorrectly part. Try to reseat the cable first and if that doesn’t work request a new part.
