My Amana Model # SQD26VW stopped cooling about 6 weeks ago. I unplugged it, cleaned the coils under the fridge and around the fan located at the bottom rear. Two days later I plugged it up and it cooled fine for a couple of weeks and then quit cooling completely. I have checked the coils in the freezer, and the compressor seems to be running ( I hear a faint humming noise coming from the compressor ) please help! I can’t afford to purchase a new one and we are tired of “Camping” in our house!! Thanks, Frank
@Frank. Dirty coils will cause major problems. Most people clean the coils when the unit stops cooling. By then it’s probably too late. The coils should be cleaned at least once a year and more if you have pets. Do you hear a click every few minutes coming from the compressor area? Duo you see any signs of oil around the compressor or the coils? If everything is running that you might have a bad pcb or a problem on the sealed system. This would be difficult to diagnose without being in front of the refrigerator.
