The unit had its hard drive formatted, after which it now freezes when booting from CD. The unit powers on with a chime, CDs spin up, but the laptop never progresses past the white screen with the grey apple. I had hoped to perform a few more tests on this unit before listing it, but I do not have the expertise. I reset PRAM, SMC without success. When holding down “Option” during boot, I found the trackpad and mouse button to function as they should. In verbose mode its freeze in ACPI bad platform. The firmware restoration cd 1.4 not bot.
Remove the hard drive and try starting from the DVD, “C” key. This should get it to run. OR Is this a new hard drive or an old bad one? If it’s an old one you can try formatting using the “write zeros” option to map out its bad blocks and it might work.
my MC notebook cannot go beyond the white screen and it posses a question mark on the screen what can I do to solve this probem?
