Heated the board and let it cool off put new thermal paste and assembled fan still not running did have gray bars on the screen before shutdown
@oldassgamer you are not telling us a lot;-). You forgot to mention how you heated the board, what temperatures you heated the board up to, what the board does now etc. The more detail you provide the better an answer you may get. I would suggest you try once more using this as your guide.
