While trying to replace the microphone on my MacBook Pro, on step 12, the ribbon cable doesn’t fit well into the little socket and on step 14, The retaining flap and all fell off so that I couldn’t pull out the cable.. What should I do?? Just because that little piece fell off, will I need to replace the entire logic board?? The computer no longer turns on. I need help ASAP for school!! Additionally, if this is a problem where I need to replace a zillion things, any recommendations? I don’t feel competent enough to do such repairs at my current experience level..
Your keyboard will work without the backlight, but tape the bare ends of the cable so it doesn’t short anything. You have to snap the #12 connector in or the top case (power button) isn’t connected. At some later date, when you have time, you may be able to kluge the backlight problem. If this answer was helpful please remember to return and mark it Accepted.
