The Macbook 13 (2006, Model 1187) starts up with the Apple logo, then a blue screen and goes no further.
Hi, assuming that you have the Snow Leopard disc you can insert it into your optical drive and hold down the C key as soon as you turn it on. Keep holding it until you see the Apple logo and the spinning circle underneath it, then let the key go. If you get nothing “AT All” then just restart it with the disc already in it and don’t even bother holding down the C key (it suppose to read it automatically), it may take a few minutes for things to appear so just be patient (5 minutes will be a little to long). Once you get the Install screen then go to the disk utility tab and choose disk utility. If NO hard drive shows up on your left side margin of that screen then the hard drive is DEAD. You’ll need a new one. Yes, you can still use the advise you got earlier.
Charles & I got you started, but Mayer has a good point. You could have a corrupt OS…and/or HD. The safest thing to do is back up your HD (except for OSX). Reformat the HD, reinstall OSX, and test the hard drive. Even if the only thing that is corrupt is the OS, it could be bad sectors on the hard drive. Hard drives are too cheep to risk loss of one only data. I lost my HD on my iMac of the same vintage and did loose some irreplaceable data.
Hello, My Mac book is acting weird. I start it up, and it brings me to the login screen, so I type my password in, and it just brings me to a blue screen. Whats wrong with it? I have a project due for school and I need to get it done. Please Help!!!!!
