So as i asked earlier, my hdd is failing, and a thunderbolt enclousure is not an option at all…so well i decided to change the internal hdd for a ssd ( and also change thermal paste to Kyronaut Extreme, and clean the fan) but there is a problem, looking at the specifications (i use bootcamp only because college software is exclusive to windows) of the hdd, its says that is connected to a sata 2 port ( or limited to sata 2 speeds)
Its because of the hdd is limited to Sata 2 speed or because the bandwidth is shared with the Propietary-PcieBlade? If i install a sata 3 ssd will it use the full speed (600mb/s)? or there is a physical limitation on the speed because of the motherboard or something? Update I Installed a SATA Crucial SSD ( a pretty cheap one actually ) and it works perfectly! SATA 3 Speeds!
(Just and extra if someone wanted to give a look to an iMac late 2013 21,5 with Nvidia GPU, because usually the reference model with igpu is used)
It appears someone replaced your HDD at some point with an old SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) laptop drive! The original HDD this system had was a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) So as long as you put in a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) SSD it will interface with the system at the higher data rate. Make sure you review the given drives spec sheet. FYI - This explains your current problem as the Fusion drive set was not designed to work with the older SATA II HDD’s as its not fast enough!
