My old 1TB is gone. So ‘ivr bought a 2.5” SSD from CRUCIAL, model CT500MX500SSD1 Crucial’s website ( i did query) said this SSD is compatible with IMAC EMC 2389 ( 21,5 mid 2010) i’ve partioned itself (MAC OS Journaled), activted it. Via Internet got the start up from APPLE ( High Sierra). the OS being installed but after the reboot, tadaaaa, it ask for disk utlity again a for downloading the OS again. and again and again. A loop. Have’nt found information if the SSD is SATA 2 compatible. I have bought the sensor from OWC, installed it. I’ve not chnged the sata cable simply i don’t have clue where to procure it (and if needed). Someone could help. Will appreciate Albert

Sadly its not compatible in SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) systems. Its a fixed speed SATA III (6.0 Gb/s). Here’s the spec sheet: Crucial MX500 2.5" SATA NAND Flash SSD Now look at this spec sheet Samsung 860 EVO SSD note the Interface line: SATA 6 Gbps Interface, compatible with SATA 3 Gbps & 1.5 Gbps interfaces Unlike the Crucial drive this drive has auto sense technology which allows it to match the systems SATA ports I/O. You’ll need to get another drive. What ever you get make sure the spec sheet lists SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) Here’s the specs for your system: 21.5” iMac 21.5 3.6 GHz Core i5 (Mid-2010)
