Hello, My Kenmore front loader washing machine started taking atleast 10-12 minutes extra during spin cycle. During this cycle, some times it makes loud sound like tuk-tuk tuk-tuk. Though there is no water at the end of cycle ( even before it adds time to its spjn cycle) in the drum but clothes are not that dry as they used to be. When machine was empty, I tried to rotate the drum manually and it rotates normally with no noticeable noise in the drum but it sounded like there was a lose part inside. I cleaned the filter and there was very little amount of debris there. Last time when I stopped machine after it had run 10 minutes extra spin cycle, when I opened it there was a slight burning smell. Ay idea why the machine is unable to dry completely while it is able to drain bulk of water without any problem and only wetness is there and so it keeps on spinning. I will appreciate a response.
If your washing machine is noisy on spin, then this can be a symptom of drum bearing wear. A quick check for wear is to see if the inner drum moves up and down relative to the fixed outer drum. It should only move a small amount. If it moves more than a millimeter or two, it is probably worn bearings. If it is making unusual noises while washing too, check that there is not a bra wire or similar object trapped half way into one of the drum holes. A high pitched whine is sometimes caused by the motor bearings. UPDATE If it is the bearing, it’s a very difficult repair and can be expensive. I would seriously consider the age of the unit before repairing. Cause 2 Tub Seal and Bearing Kit The tub bearing is mounted in the middle of the outer tub. The tub bearing helps to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. If the washer is noisy during the spin cycle or is leaking from the bottom of the tub near the transmission, the tub seal and bearing are likely defective. Replacing the tub bearing is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. If the tub bearing is defective, we recommend replacing the outer tub and bearing at the same time. Cause 3 Rear Drum with Bearing The rear drum has a bearing or bearings in it to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. If the tub bearing system is defective the washer can become very noisy. On some machines bearings are sold separately from the rear drum, however we recommend replacing both the outer drum and bearing as an assembly if the manufacturer offers the components together because removing and pressing in the new bearing can be exceptionally difficult.
