Spin cycle stops halfway through and then restarts. It does this with a full load but not if I run the spin cycle with the washer empty.
Cause 1 Drive Belt Inspect the drive belt to determine if it is broken or if it is loose on the pulleys. If the drive belt is broken or loose, replace it. Cause 2 Motor Coupling The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. If the washer is overloaded, the motor coupling will fail in order to protect both the motor and transmission. The motor coupling can also fail due to normal wear. Inspect the motor coupling to determine if it is broken. If the motor coupling is broken, replace it.
Henry, Kenmore 70 series washer, spin cycle stops halfway through and then restarts. It could be a failing/intermittent lid switch, next time you experience the problem open and close lid a few times and see if it starts spin cycle. If lid switch OK, the fault probably the timer switch. If not comfortable testing and diagnosing have a good repairman check, diagnose and estimate repair.
