Chosen Solution

Some years ago I spilled tea on my trackpad, and ever since my trackpad has been essentially non-functional. It will right and left click, dart around the screen, and select large quantities of text all without my input. I can still move the mouse around myself, but I’m in constant battle with the phantom controlling the trackpad (and it usually has enough control that I can’t do much). I’ve gotten around this by using a mouse and turning on the accessibility function that ignores the trackpad if a mouse is plugged in. To truly fix this issue though, do I need to replace the trackpad or is there some screw I can adjust or some software I can reflash? All these years later I’d like to actually address the real issue now. Thank you! Any input is helpful.

You’ll need to replace the trackpad and its cable MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2009-Mid 2012) Trackpad following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 Trackpad Replacement liquid spillage into trackpads tends to kill them, you also likely have corrosion damage as well.
