You have made the right call by not turning on or trying to charge. Remove the battery and get it to a local computer repair as soon as you can to get it opened up and cleaned up. Corrosion and contaminates are the worst enemy and will only get worse with time. The sooner it is cleaned the better chance you have of saving it :)
