I have been finding it very difficult to remove the iPhone 6 battery with pulling out the strips, using tools, etc. I was told by a local cell phone repair shop that they use a hot plate to quickly melt the strips and just lift the battery right out so I bought a CPB brand hot plate meant for phone and tablet repair - but I have no idea what the correct heating temperature and time are for the iPhone 6 and I’m afraid to experiment too much out of fear of blowing up the battery! (That already happened to me once when a set of tweezers slipped…oops. The heat from that did melt the strips though!) Anyone have any experience with this removal method? I did see them do it from the other side of a door but obviously couldn’t get close enough to grab the temp off the hot plate they were using. Thanks!

There’s no need to heat the glued pull strips, you just have to pull firmly but gently and release slowly if you feel too much resistance. I’d recommend to loosen the Taptic engine screws and remove it, that will make the job much easier allowing you to pull the stripes almost horizontally. What makes the strips weak/break is pulling them at a too tight angle.
