My fiancé noticed that my TV just stopped producing sound yesterday. We changed inputs, reset the settings, and unplugged it. Nothing worked. I’ve got the back off and am looking at the boards now, I’ll include photos of the board that appears to be connected to the speakers. The white harness on the bottom left appears to be where the speakers are connected.
Hi @tristonh2, You said that you changed inputs, did you mean input types as well e.g. HDMI, Component video + audio, Composite video + audio or Co-ax? The reason is that HDMI and antenna (co-ax) signals are digital which means that they use the DSP (digital signalling processor) section of the mainboard whereas the Component and Composite signals are analogue signals and don’t use it. Have you tried different signal sources as well e.g. try connecting a dvd player or game console etc and check in case the audio problem is not in the TV but in the signal source if it is a “box” of some description e.g. cable box, media streaming box, PVR etc and not an antenna? If the problem is found to be in a “box” try resetting it by turning off the power to it, waiting a few minutes and then turning it back on again and then check if there is now audio from the TV. Have you tried connecting a set of headphones to the TV and checking if there is audio available when using them, you didn’t say? According to the user manual the headphone socket is on the side of the TV. Note when the headphones are inserted the TV speakers will be disconnected. Try inserting and removing the headset plug a few times and check if this restores the audio to the TV speakers. I’m not sure with your model whether inserting a set of headphones into the headset socket literally cuts off the TV speakers or just signals the audio controller in the TV to switch the audio output away from the TV speakers and onto the headphones. Have you tried using an external audio system connected to the TV’s digital audio output connector (you need to alter the setting in the TV Sound menu to external and not TV speakers) to check if the problem relates to all audio outputs i.e. TV speakers, headphones and external audio or only audio emanating from the TV speakers and headphones? If there is no audio at all when trying all of the above then here’s the All Source Audio Troubleshooting guide from the service manual for the TV which may be of some help.
