I bought an iPhone 5s for parts with a cracked screen and find my phone on, witch means it cannot be set up as a new phone unless you turn find my phone off using your iCloud password through iCloud.com. I contacted the seller and asked if you could turn find my phone off through his iCloud but he said he found it on the side of the road with a cracked screen and he had know idea who’s it was or what the iCloud password for it was. When I heard that I knew there was little chance that I could make this a working phone again so I was wondering if I could replace the motherboard/data storage/logicboard to make it a brand new phone with no data remaining from the old phone?
@pumpkineater223 if you have never done this " replace the required components" you are going to have a difficult time getting it accomplished. It requires some excellent skills and good tools. I’d say you have a dud on your hand and got scammed. Anytime you get a story with “found it on the side of the road” you need to wonder where the phone really came from. Cut your loses, harvest what you need from the phone and chalk it up as a learning experience.
You have two options either replace the cracked screen any other damaged components and replace the entire logic board from a phone that is not activation locked or replace the required components on the existing logic board that a linked with the Apple ID. These are to my knowledge the Flash RAM, Baseband IC and chip. Good luck.
