Hello everyone, I would like to start micro soldering, i have phone compagny but sometime we broke some chip during repair. What is all tool needed for remove U2 chip and replace with new one ( i already have the new U2) Can someone explain me how to desoldering and how to soldering back, which method is the best ? Thanks
Hey, You’ll need to start off by getting a good soldering iron, something along the lines of a Hakko, then you will need decent flux, and decent solder at different widths, for smaller stuff go with the thinner soldering wire, try and make sure it’s multicore solder as that also contains flux in the solder and helps a lot. A good reflow station will be needed for sure. You will definitely need a decent microscope to, you can’t do it by eye, as the chips are so tiny! If you do plan on soldering a lot, you’ll more than likely need a fume extractor, as the fumes from soldering are bad for health. Hope this has helped. :)
Tools only: Hotairstation/Reworkstation Soldering Iron Solder Flux fine quality tweezers (also important) Changing the u2 chip is one of the easier IC’s to change but still not the place to learn micro soldering. Practise and get to know your tools on dead boards until you know how to remove parts without destroying the whole board.
PPD120E or good soldering iron
