Chosen Solution
I have an LG G2. It works great. Yesterday I noticed some weird behavior. The screen was finicky and hard to use. (I noticed it while playing Candy Crush—I couldn’t switch certain candies in an area… LOL). The screen is not cracked or anything. The picture looks perfect… I decided to open up an app where I could draw, and it turns out that I can’t get any input on a perfect row about an inch or so from the top of the screen. The row is about half an inch thick and runs all the way from one side to another. I can color the whole screen, but it’s perfectly blank on that one row. I did some research and figured it might be some loose connector with the digitizer. Is this possibly an easy fix? Thanks!!!
Daniel Helms, anytime you have a certain area on the touch screen that is unresponsive, suspect the digitizer. This problem can occur without a cracked or otherwise damaged digitizer. It is good practice to try a factory reset etc., but if that doesn’t work, you should replace the digitizer or display assembly. Since the digitizer and the LCD are fused together, you will need an LCD separator and other tools to replace the digitizer. Replacing the complete display assembly will make the task easier. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Please….Buy a two dollar lighter that uses a piece of qurtz as an ignition source..electrical discharge… not the type with a piece of flint inside. the main difference and clue you have the right one is, the flint one has the rollers on top you run your thumb across as you press down on the button/trigger to release its gas for ignition. The lighter you want has just one button/ trigger. First vent or empty butane gas..release valve on bottom. Then remove the qurtz ignighter from the lighters housing and place on you phones dead screen click/ press it a couple of times..for me three times. Dead zone/dead bar fixed.. no more gost touches ithier. Fixed… 2.00 dollars… but keep ignighter round incase screen goes dead again but after a couple of clicks screen permant fix for me. For a detailed youtube video of the process, search keywords screen fix ignighter…. the error is a digitizer fault, often due to your phone overheating for long peirodes at a time. The quartz igniter generates around 350 to 400 oms to the lcd screen and attached digitizer ..harmless to your phone and you… this electrical discharge that awakens the dead zone like magic. No costly repairs of digitizer and lcd screen
I had this same problem as above. One dead line about a half an inch from the top of the screen. My phone is still under the one year manufacturer’s warranty, so I sent it out for repair through my carrier, which is free to do. It came back perfect, then about a month after, started again. I’ve had random issues with the digitizer on this phone since I got it, and even exchanged the first one I got within the return period because i had major issues in the first 4 days. When I noticed the same problems with the new phone I figured maybe it was a software issue. I’ve done a software update since, and it fixed some of the other issues, but clearly this is a hardware issue that affected a mass amount of these models. I was hoping to update to the G4 eventually when it comes out, but this has me skeptical!
This just started happening to me after using the LG G2 since 12/07/2013. I hadn’t thought about the drawing “test”, but sure enough, it showed where the area was not responding which is consistent with the non functioning keyboard areas). Other than entering passwords requiring these letters/numbers on the affected keyboard area, the solution I’m pursuing is to change the passwords (needed to do that anyway) to use working letters/numbers. Hopefully, this solution will work until my contract is up in November with Spring, then I can dump them and the LG phone. Too bad as I really liked the LG G2, but seems like a lot of folks are experiencing similar problems.
Hello, I recently bought a lg g2 from craigslist and realized that this problem was occurring. I tried fixing it by factory resetting and doing some other stuff, but it just wouldn’t work. I then went on and downloaded an app called Dimly from the app store which lowers your screen brightness and have been using it for a while. The next day after, after coming back from school, I was using my phone and realized it was fixed! If you want, please try the app and see if it works for your phone.
I struggled with this issue for a few months - just so stupid that the phone is fine, but there is that certain area you just cant tap into. It just so happens that little section of screen is the top results of google search results or google map results. Talk about frustrating! Anyway, I found a software solution - download Aviate - it is a homepage takeover from yahoo in the app store. For whatever reason, this homepage takeover software overrides the qslide software that -I believe -is the cause of the issue. I can now click on top search results, top map locations and finally tell my uber driver where I am trying to go from the app!
I turned off Q-slide on the notification bar and that fixed the problem for me. The dead zone was right where Q-slide is on the notification bar. Wonder if this was the problem for some of you others.
I had an issue where only half the digitizer was working. The phone had been dropped a number of times but screen was not broken. What was causing my issue was on the base of the phone the white antenna cable was shorting on the piece of ribbon cable with all the resisters on. As the cable wouldn’t stay put i fitted the cable first and let the ribbon cable sit on top. so far all is well.
I think I figured it out It may help try it. The ghost touches could be from a lose screen that has to be fix are software. But you would have to determine that by these steps. I figured the screen would either be messed up if you dropped it and the cable is lose are a defect and can cause ghost touches are screen scrolling are wacky things going on with your screen physically or could be static shock if you do not have a static free cover or your power adapter if it’s not original for the phone are a different kind can cause it as well all this I found out just doing everything I could think of that may cause this thing to act up. Unless you have a static free case or antishock case that may cause the problem as well. As I went a whole day without plugging in my charger after I done a few things that I will explain threw this whole thread that it did not act up one time with out plugging in my charger I used a charger for my samsung galaxy as it the same volts nothing different. There is a dead spot on the screen where no matter what you do it will not let you touch anything and it’s toward the top in a straight line across. Very seldom it will let you touch anything and I think it’s where the ghost touches are right in that spot. Now for software. No matter if you reset your phone from the hard reset if your signed up with google unless you go vanilla and not let google download everything you had on there again your in trouble if you do. For one it’s software problem that has not been fixed and for 2 when cutting on and off it stops sometimes that’s software. Now for the good part what others may find out is if you go in and reset your phone with just says reset to default instead of starting from scratch the phone doesn’t act up. This phone is very picky on what it wants on it. Also I found that it could be the facebook app causing it to do this!! I promise you once I reset my phone to default and deleted the facebook app I had no problems yet all day!! Because as I got notifications from facebook on my phone locked up and started the wacky and not responding and all other kinds of things with ghost touches and all. I looked at facebook from the web with google chrome after the app was off again and no problems. Also I found out that if you do not use the default text keyboard are the default text message program on the phone no matter if you like what it does are not it will cause you problems!! I will update and let you know as I go threw finding out what really happens with doing all this again!! Thanks and hope this helps a lot of people as it certainly had me stumped. I love this phone but couldn’t use it will get back as I find more problems if things start to acting stupid again. OO and I have the verizon VS980
- Some users claimed they have been able to solve the problem by enabling developer settings in the phone.
- Removing the screen Protector can solve the problem, maybe Their is some combination of Electrostatic build up and the conductivity of the adherent material on the screen protector, registering as touches.
- Allowing the phone to cool down after an extended long usage might stop this problems, many people have reported the touchscreen issues always happens when their phones is very Hot.
- Turning the screen off and back on will remedy the issue, for the moment.
- The software issue can also be solve by updating the G2 software to the latest software available which many users have claimed helped them solve the problems.
- You can also try to do a factory reset which will fix the issues for the moment, as claimed by some users online. Many users claimed a devices replacement did not solve the touch screen problems as their new devices have started to exhibit the same systems after a few days of usage too.

In this post we will look at a common problem that many of us face, Our mobile phone may fall to the ground and become inactive in some parts of the mobile phone’s touch screen If the display of the mobile (display) is good then give it to the repair center (service center) to fix it and they will tell you to replace both the display (display) and the touch screen (Touch screen) Its price starts from at least 1000 LED screen. (LED Display) is even more so if we are using it without fixing it in such a situation we will see how to perform the functions where it is not working https://aarthyandroid.blogspot.com/2020/…
