I slammed the laptop shut and I have restarted and shut off/turned on. It works but is very slow. Is there anything I can do?
You likely damaged the HD drive cable. This series has a problem where the cable can scrape the ruff milled body so slamming the lid transferred the energy though the drive to the cable under it (if the system was off) Apple knows of this problem and is replacing the drive cables for free. Visit an Apple Store or Apple authorized service center.
