My son replaced the broken glass on his iphone 3gs and now the slide bar won’t slide. The phone powers up and it looks normal with the icons and such, just the slide bar thing.

suzy, you may have to double check the connection for the digitizer. If all connections are seated properly and straight. Pay attention to connector #2, that is the touch screen connection. Make sure it is seated properly. Also make sure that it is a 3G not a 3GS replacement part. If the part is right, all connection are properly made, I would replace the touchscreen with either one from a working phone or get a new replacement from the vendor.

I just wanted to say I had the exact same problem (I replaced the glass after it broke) and once the iPhone was reassembled the “slide” function wouldn’t work. I did a minor disassemble (battery & cover over the digitizer connections) and the issue was definitely cable #2. I reseated everything, screwed down the cover (not as tightly as before) and it’s working now. Thanks SO much for posting this tip, it saved me a headache. Anna

Thanks for the post….. Very helpful. I wanted to fix phone to use I guess as an iPod for the kids and my music, now to check that #2 connection you are talking about……

I have fitted a new battery and all seemed to go well until I found the slide bar not working. I re opened the phone and checked #2 and found the connector was not fully in. Now it is in fully my slide bar still does not work. Help please. Thanks Ollie
