Chosen Solution

Hi everyone, I recently got a good deal on a MAcbook 12 2016 model. All I had to do is to change the screen, as the seller managed to break it. So I ordered a replacement screen, but unfortunately in the end it turned out to be a 2015 model, which only has a magnet on the left side, as the 2015 MacBook only has 1 sensor installed. Because I didn’t want to go though the whole ordeal of sending it back, getting a refund and re-ordering I decided to make it work myself. What I did was, I placed a small (not so strong) magnetic tape underneath the sensor on the bottom plate and the machine goes into sleep as intended when closing the lid. However my question is, will I damage the sensor as it always senses the magnet or I will be fine?

It’ll be fine, the sensors are designed to be used with magnets.
