My Apple MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2014 started to randomly shut down (never spilled water on it) A week ago it started to shut down, especially when I was using Backblaze or Davinci resolve. I uninstalled them and the problem continued. If I turn my computer on, after a few seconds/minuted it shuts down and it does not restart. I have already reseted the SMC and Pram/Nvram. In addition to that, everytime I turn it on, it starts up very slowly. Once I just closed the macbook lid and during the night I heard the same sound as when the computer starts up, but the lid was closed. Do you think I should get the logic board replaced?
Both BackBlaze backup & Davinci Resolve can push your system hard. In the case of BackBlaze your Internet connection tends to be asymmetric, that is when the uplink connection is a low slower than the down link! So pushing data to Backblaze can cause a backup queue consuming a fail amount of CPU/RAM & Storage resources. Davinci Resolve is also a hungry beast! Depending on how big or complex your work is the system can run out of resources! So, the bottom line here is you maybe pushing your system beyond what it can offer! I hope you have 16 GB of RAM and I hope you have a large SSD (512GB or better 1 or 2TB). As far as backing up to the internet, I love backbone and I use it as well. I have my system (Mac Pro) setup to backup during the night when I’m not working. I also use local storage as my primary work storage so my internet connection isn’t bogged down. In any case I’m never trying to push stuff up while doing other things either on my Mac Pro or other systems. The last issue is your systems graphics maybe holding you back! You really should be using a better GPU which is in a 15” in this line or one of the newer 13” models which have a better intergraded graphics engine.
