should I be able to shift through all five gears without engine running on 94 ranger Update (03/27/2017) how can I put the 5speed trans in neutral without the shifter installed
@johnking2 it is very difficult to shift through the gears when the tranny is not turning. Your synchronizers are really not meant to mesh the gears etc. during a stationary operation. As in how to place it in neutral would depend on what transmission you have. Usually you can just line up the shift rails with a prybar or similar instrument.
