Hi all, My Apple TV4 is completely dead. No light when the power cord is plugged in or anything. I dismantled the thing so warranty is also gone, but what I saw when I checked the power supply is that it is working perfectly (outputting 12V). However, when the logic board is connected, the power supply goes down to 0V. After measuring the motherboard, I saw that there is a short between the positive and negative terminal of the motherboard. Does anybody have any idea if this is a common fault, if or how to fix it, and were a spare logic board can perhaps be found?
It could be as simple as a shorted capacitor on the logic board. You could try to find it by using freeze spray (or a can of compressed air held upside down). IMO, a spare logic board would be just as expensive as buying a used 4th gen device so you either try to fix it or simply replace it.
Hi guyz, I found the problem and fixed it. So the problem is 68uf 16V Tantalum capacitor fail. Find this component, and just remove it (replace if you can but I just removed, and it started to work, good luck.
