I shine a light and can see my desktop. And if I apply pressure on the LCD screen at some points and/or twist the screen slightly in an angle it lights back up like normal, but as soon as I release pressure it goes black. So the computer is working fine I can move the mouse and click on things it’s just gone completely black. I had this LCD screen replaced at a comp repair shop less than a year ago. Could it be the cable that is making faulty contact? Is there anything else I can do other than replace the LCD again? Update (04/25/2017) LCD screen seems to have vertical lines with color This is an hp 2000 15.6 windows 8 notebook. The LCD screen seems to have vertical lines with color now and I can not see the desktop anymore :( I think I will have to replace the LCD screen. Is this something I can do myself? I am a mac user not PC. But i have taken my own MacBook Pro apart and added RAM in the past. I just can’t seem to find any instructions on how to take apart the laptop/replace LCD with new one. Any advise/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
@pinkylove it is possible that this is caused by a bad cable, but it can also be caused by a LCD driver board error. You’ll have to open up your computer and take a look at the cabling. If you can tell us what computer this is, we might even find more information for you. Update (04/25/2017) @pinkylove download the maintenance manual from here. Page #62 will tell you how to replace the display.
