Chosen Solution
What’s up Guys? So, having a problem here. I’ve got a seized frothing knob shaft. It got so bad that I could barely open/close the valve with the strongest grip I could muster. Obviously this affects the brew pressure since it doesn’t completely close all the way. I removed the plastic knob from the splines of the shaft, but I’m now at a loss as to what to do next. I’ve included a pic from above with the cover off, and highlighted the shaft in question. I’d be grateful for any help as I really cannot afford a new machine.
I’ve seen this on a few machines now, and unfortunately there’s no secret method to resolving it; brute force is what’s needed. Get a big pair of vice grips, lock them onto the exposed shaft and start turning. This will eventually get the shaft out, and hopefully the threads in the valve won’t be too damaged in the process, otherwise you’ll have to replace the whole valve assembly as well as the shaft. Some heat might make it easier to turn as well; I usually do it when the machine is hot.
