Chosen Solution
Hi! I own a small repair business and this is my first time repairing this laptop the repair was meant to be quite easy and there was only one screen i could find online that was cheap and could be shipped to me quickly. I tried fitting this screen into the laptop and everything is the same other than the video flex cable connector junction. Its too small and it doesnt go all the way too connect it. Does anyone have a solution? I really need to get this fixed and give this to my client ASAP before I get in trouble. Thank you!
Hi @talhaqureshi Are you using the existing video cable or was there one that came with the new display panel? Is the motherboard connector a 30 pin or 40 pin connector? What size is the video cable, 30 pin or 40 pin? Here’s the maintenance and service guide for the laptop, taken from this webpage. On p.47 it shows how to remove the display assembly including the video cable. If the replacement panel only has a 30 pin cable/connector and the motherboard’s video cable connector is a 40 pin you got the wrong display. On p.19 of the manual you will find the part numbers for the displays and also the video cable. If you search online using the HP part numbers only of any required parts for the laptop, you will get results for suppliers. Usually they are marked on the parts i.e. back of display panel and on video cable somewhere if you want to verify that you’re ordering the correct part
