My 2012 MacBook Pro shows strange snow when I’m using it. It has been fine for about 6 years, but recently began doing things like this

(the username has been removed for privacy’s sake, but it was visible) and this

The body of the laptop does have some dents, and the screen is slightly cracked, but those were made years ago, and they’re not what I’m worried about. Any help with this issue is appreciated, as this is the computer I use on a daily basis. Thanks in advance!

Apple released an update that fixed this. It was a software thing all along! I updated my machine, and all of the problems went away. Thanks for all of your help, but apparently the issues were Apple’s fault!

Thats a bit more than snow ;-} Your logic boards CPU (this model uses a graphics engine within the CPU chip) and either its dedicated video memory or you have a bad SO-DIMM is encountering issues. Lets try this take one the RAM modules out did it improve? If not swap it with the other any improvement? Now try the other slot in the same way one module at a time did that improve things. If you have spare RAM you can also give that a try otherwise your logic board will need repairs or replacement.
