I bought a used macbook pro 15" late 2008 and the screen is separating from the lid case when opening and closing. It looks like the glass is coming appart from the rubber part. I would add pictures but can not figure out how to do that. see http://stlouis.craigslist.org/sys/563210… . Can any tell me if it just needs to be re glued or does it need a new hinge or other part?

My bet is that the frame broken on the left hand side about 1" up from the lower left hand corner and is allowing it to flex and pull the glass loose.

The Craigslist post was deleted, so I can’t open it to see what’s going on. From your description though, it sounds like the glass if coming out of the screen? If that’s the case, then yes, it’s just a simple reglueing of the glass to the lid. On an aluminum MacBook Pro the hinges are almost impossible to break. I’ve never actually had to replace a hinge on one, so I wouldn’t give that too much thought.
